WOW, The same thing happens to me. I would get attacks about 30 minutes after taking the pill and like yourself it would always be the afternoon pill that what be the one that caused it most of the time. WOOOOOOW. I thought that it was just me that felt this way but I'm starting to see with you that I'm not. I was prescribed 250mg a day but my neurologist told me to play with the dosage if needed. Now I think I have found the way of avoiding these sleep attacks after taking provigil. First thing I had to tell myself is that maybe provigil doesn't act like stimulants due. On stimulants you just pop a pill in your mouth when you feel sleepy and then eventually the stimulants wake you up. Provigil, if approached in the same way as a stimulant will actually cause you to have sleep attacks. I concluded that PROVIGIL DOES NOT WORK LIKE A STIMULANT. I still don't understand how and why it works in me because the feeling I get while on it is very different compared to my experiences on stimulants such as ritalin. The difference is like night and day.

Here is what I did and it works!!! Now it took me months of doing this before it actually kicked in and I stopped having those sleep attacks. (note; I have been on provigil for about 2-2 and a half years. I only started doing this thing that I did in the last year.
I break my pills in half. I only take my dosage"s" in half! After a few months of doing this I do not get "any" sleep attack after taking a provigil. I found that one pill being taken at one time was maybe too much of a dosage in one shot and that this is what was causing the sleep attacks. Plus I found out that "less" is best on provigil. Now that I have been taking a half a pill at each dosage I find that I am takening less of the provigil and its working even better then the full 250mg's a day.

So try this technique and be VERY PATIENT!!! It took me months before I stopped having the sleep attacks before it worked. Plus it was very hard in the first months of dealing with the sleepiness as well but in the end it payed off. The provigil even today isn't a God sent either but HOLY COW I notice a BIGGER difference now then before. It was well worth the wait. So try doing this if you like. Its not like you are actually taking less of your meds because your not. Your just taking a half a pill "more often" during the day then a whole pill less often. If in time you feel like you do not need as much of you provigil, because this technique works for you, then go see your doctor about this before taking less of your meds.
