Hi, I'm fairly new, so you might get a better response from someone that knows more about N than I do. I was diagnosed last month. The Doc asked me if I'd ever seen or heard anything "unusual". I told him that I hear people whispering once or twice a week, and thought I was getting schizophrenia. These whispers say things like, "Hi." and "how are you?" Nothing bad. He told me that I was not awake at those times, I was sleeping. He told me I had classic N, and was amazed that I was not diagnosed for over 30 years.
Wouldn't it be wild to believe that you were having a psychotic episode and find out that your waking and sleeping times overlap? That would be quite a shock.
I have SP and was amazed that everyone gets scared and nervous when they can't move. I call that my "dozing off" time and it means I am really going to sleep good. My Doc said that I was already asleep when that happened.
As for cataplexy, I never thought I had that, but I was at work (on 20 mgs of dexadrine) and after I ate supper, I could not move and my eyes were closing, yet I was awake. If Id been standing up, I would have fallen over. But I always did that after eating a meal, I thought everybody did that.
Hopefully you will get it straightened out, I'm hoping the best for you.
