Sorry to ask because I do not believe that I have spoken with you in the past, "do you have narcolepsy?" What I mean is, "Has your sleep study come out positive for narcolepsy?"

It sounds to me like you are confused, or you are questioning if you really do have narcolepsy or something else? If you have been diagnosed with N then you do have an organic problem, damaged neuro transmitters (receptor cells)Unfortunately there are no tests to this day that can actually show these damaged cells in the brain.

What do you mean, "Your sleep is unusually deep?" Are you talking about REM???

Hey, after all these years living with N I will tell you something, "You will always feel sleepy when you wake up in the morning." I have not gotten use to it to this day. The thing that also sucks about N is not being able to stay alseep all night night either. When we are awake our brains tell us, "go to sleep." But when we are asleep our brains tell us, "wake up." So that ain't fun is it?

Getting back to what I was trying to say... Yes, you can go into deep sleep BUT that does not mean that you are getting healthy sleep. The problem lies on you stages of sleep. Did you enter into REM sleep soon after you fell asleep during your sleep study? If so then that is narcolepsy, hence the reason why we are always so tired all the time. So it would not depend on whether or not a person experiences deep sleep or not, it all depends on the stages of sleep that we enter into when we fall alseep. I'm sure you are already aware on the different stages of sleep and how if a person experiences too much REM, NREM sleep that this can cause serious sleep problems/disorders?
So if you have been diagnosed with narcolepsy then this would probably be the reason why you are always tired all of the time, even if you experience deep sleep or not.
