Hi,
Brianbji, what drug are you taking??? If it is provigil (modafinil-Alertec) whatever it is called where you are living, then be very careful. If you have had mini heart attacks then you should not be talking this medication. Look, I am not a doctor to give advice on this however I am sure that this drug is dangerous if you have already had a heart attack.
I too have high blood pressure, ever since I have been talking meds for narcolepsy. That is what happend when you take stimulants, your blood pressure will go up. Or if it is not the meds that are causing the blood pressure problem, then they can definitely cause more problems.
Try taking your dose half a pill at a time. Still continue talking the full dosage on a daily basis BUT just consume half a pill each time.Catkin, what do you mean that you have been "half diagnosed" with N? Either you are diagnosed or you aren't. Do you mean that you are on your way to be diagnosed with it? Any ways... I think that was really dangerous and dumb for those doctors to treat you for a bunch of problems like that. They should have been sure about what you had before they started treating you for a bunch of stuff. I know what you went through because I went through stuff like that too in my life. Eventually you have to get to the point where you put your foot down with these doctors and make them do their jobs right! Make sure that before they start treating you for N that they know beyond a reasonable doubt that you have N. This way you avoid being treated for illnesses that you did not have to begin with. In the end it is your life that is being pushed around by these doctors. If more people stopped listening to their doctors and started asking questions to their doctors then this kind of stuff would be happening less often.
If you ask your doctor, "is it a fact beyond a reasonable doubt that I have narcolepsy, ms, the flu, diabetes, etc..." and the doctor does not reply with a 100% "YES" then be careful about being treated for it. Ask yourself this question, "If you brought your car into a garage and the mechanic tells you that your water pump needs to be changed. You reply, "Are you 100% such that the problem with my car is the water pump?" If the mechanic cannot give you a 100% "YES" then would you pay for the repair??? No you would not! So ask yourself why you would not treat your body better then that of your car?Hey, that is dumb that you cannot drive because you have narcolepsy. Here in Canada they do not care. When I went to get my license I called the license bureau and asked them if I was allowed to drive with this illness. Did you know what their response was??? "Yes sir, that is not a problem. There are so many tired people driving cars everyday that you are not anymore of a risk then they are behind the wheel." So any ways, that sucks that you cannot drive with N over in Scotland!!! If I were you I would check into getting a disablity check every month. Because if you cannot drive a car then that means that you are handicap. If so then you could apply for disablity with your government. Because I cannot see you not being able too. If they refuse to see you as being handicap then they have no reason to stop you from driving.
Oh...I found that provigil does not help with EDS all that much. It does keep you from having uncontrollable sleep attacks, but it does not take away that sleepy feeling.
