Are you the person, Joy, from the above thread? You said above that you don't nap, and if you do lay down to nap, you think and rethink things that are planned. But in this thread you are saying that you have automatic behavior and don't remember doing certain things. Automatic behavior is one of the signs of N. We can do a lot of repetitious things and think we are awake , yet we are sleeping and just doing things by rote. Kind of like driving home and not remembering the trip, because we were thinking of other things. Yet I can wake up in bed and no know how I got there.

Involuntary naps, I do that all day long without stimulants. I fell asleep at the computer, charting at work (I am a nurse), watching TV (all the time), practically anytime I sit down for more than five minutes. I don't fall over, my head does nod a bit. I have fallen asleep standing in the middle of traffic as a traffic guard for semis coming through the gates into traffic. The driver had to come over and wake me up (and that was when I was much younger and less N).

Have you had any sleep studies? That will give you a definite yes or no. I was really glad to find out I had N, because that meant I wasn't lazy. I had tried to have as much energy as everyone else, which you just can't do with N, unmedicated. I take 60 mg of dexedrine now and I'm still fighting sleep, and have little energy, but its still a whole lot better than before.

I would suggest a sleep study, then a daytime MSLT. If you are already on stimulants, and all of these N things happen when you are off of them, there is obviously a reason why you take the stimulants, right? Your feelings of anxiety could be from withdrawal, or having too much stimulant in your system. Coffee/caffeine can do the same thing.

Take care. Willow
