Hi,

Just to respond to Willow's comments. I agree, if you have N you will suffer from uncontrollable sleep. Trust me, you will not be able to stay awake. If you ever had the feeling of your eyes growing heavy and closing on you no matter how much you try to fight it, then you will know what narcolepsy is for a narcoleptic on a daily basis. That is why so many people are ignorant towards us and view us as being lazy. Or sometimes they think it is because we are not medicated or because we have not been diagnosed properly. (There are lots of jerks like that out there in this world!)

Yes, there can be a small chance that you have N but it is either at a very early stage, VERY EARLY STAGE, or you have a very minor form of it. I know that my father has it, even though he has never been diagnosed with it. All of my life, and even to this day, my father will fall asleep while watching television or just sitting down in a quit place. He never falls asleep when he is up and moving around, working, etc... BUT he does fall asleep while sitting down on a routine basis. He also has family members who are the same way. They claim it might be due to them being "hard workers" but the reality is that in a world of 6 billion people there are a lot of "hard workers" out there, most of them do not fall asleep while sitting down or watching television! (Unfortunately my father does not see doctors, he is 69 and saw a doctor once in his life. So I will never know if my narcolepsy is hereditary or not.)
So the point that I am making is that if this does not happen to you, fall alseep uncontrollably in odd situations such as watching television, sitting down, etc... then chances are you "might" not have narcolepsy. But I am not a professional to tell you for sure by the information that you are giving us here on the forum.
