Hi,

You have to take what it is that works best for you. No two drugs work the same on each person. But I would be concerned about the long term health effects on you taking more then one medication, especially your provigil. Man, that is a VERY high dose!!! I am suppose to take 250 a day, sometimes I do not take anything depending on how I feel and if I can take naps.
None of these medications are 100% effective, which I am sure you already figured out by now. There is no saying what would be good for you.

Now what happened in your accident??? Was it sleep related??? Your doctor had no place to up your meds on a personal matter such as a car accident. YOu are an adult and only you can know why the accident took place. If it was sleep related then I could understand why you would ask your doc for a high dose. But if it wasn't then why do that to yourself?
That is the thing that us narcoleptics have to be careful to protect ourselves about, car accidents. Just because you had an accident does not mean that it was your N that caused it. There are a lot of people who are suppose to wear glasses when they drive, how many of them actually do? They are actually more dangerous on the road then we are! Then look at how many people have high blood pressure and do not report it to the DMV when they are suppose too! They are dangerous on the road too in case they have a heart attack while driving, etc...

Hopefully you did not take your accident out on yourself IF it was NOT sleep related. Because if it wasn't then there was no need to blame your N on it.

I wish I could help you out on your insurance problem but I can't. Even up here in Canada I have to get premission every year from the government to have my medication insured. I have to get a letter from my neurologist to tell the government that I need to have this medication in order to live. Then afterwards the government will insure it for me. (By the way, I am on the governement insurance plan) But I also never had a problem with private insurance plans either. I guess it all depends on the plan that you are on. Maybe you should get your sleep specialist, neurologist, doctor to write a letter to your insurance company DEMANDING that you have both your meds insured because you need them in order to live and function. Maybe the problem is that your insurance company does not know the reasons WHY you are taking these two medications or how serious your medical condition is.
