I was extremely sleepy for several years then during two weeks full symptoms appeared. Sleep paralysis, hallucinations but no ability to fall asleep. Now I suffer from cataplexy attacks as well (appeared 2 years after outburst of narcolepsy). When I get extremely sleepy and have to "nap" my body makes me pain to stay awake. After half an hour i´m able to continue work. I had to fight to survive while i was extremely ill so my body adjusted in that way. This pain from sleepiness is much harder for me than the rest of my symptoms.
