i recently had my mslt and had only one episode of sorem. but the tech also said that my sleep latency was <5 and i did nap during all 5 tests and also had to be constantly woken up in between. i was also very anxious. my doc went ahead and prescribed adderal.i have a preliminary diagnosis of narcolepsy and possibly idiopathic hypersomnelence until test is thoroughly reviewed. i wont see him to talk about results for 2 wks and i cant stand it. i should be grateful that i am on meds, but for validation reasons, i want a definitive diagnosis! the reason i am absolutely pos i have narc is because i have had cataplexy for about 5 yrs. btw, all other sleep disorders have been ruled out. anyhow when i see my doc, i wanna be armed with info in case he is hesitant to give me a definitive diagnosis. i would be more than happy to submit to a spinal tap to measure hypocretin in cerebral spinal fluids as i understand that it is usually pretty accurate for people with cata and narc. has anyone had this? i have heard different reports on what the correct level should be. i heard for narcolepsy it should be under 110 pg/ml and for normal 200 or more. is this right? also, has anyone had the gene test done? i am confused on whether you DO have the hladqb1*0602 gene or not have it for narc. i am understanding that you would have it. does anyone know? have you had this or the other test and what happened? please let me know since I KNOW what i have and need to have it documented. this may all be for nothing as he may diagnose because of mitigating factors, but i like to be armed with info.
