Been there, done that! haha. I went to school for architecture - notoriously known for frequent all-nighters. I got through it fine until about 3 years in. I thought it was just from being tired from school, so I became an under-achiever to back off from the all-nighters. It continued to get worse and I started complaining to my doctor that I couldn't stay awake. He diagnosed me with ADHD and gave me 18mg of Concerta -it made a huge difference! I went to a psychiatrist to confirm the diagnosis since it didn't make any sense that tired = adhd... ? I'm still not convinced...
It's been 5 years since I started taking stimulants, each year I've had to increase the dosage or change prescriptions. The last year I've gotten gradually worse so now I'm back going to doctors, now preparing for my first sleep study next week.
I've been tested for thyroid problems, cushings, celiac disease, lupus, hepatitis, hiv, cancer, heart defects, gallblader disorders, vitamin deficiences, etc! No doctor told me to get a sleep test until last year when he thought I might have fibromyalgia.
So my advice is, try to stay focused and find a good sleep specialist. The only things that have ever helped me is medication and help from friends and my mom.
