My #1 Challenge was to stay positive (and remember my provigil - I was a bit forgetful).
I had slight cataplexy, and it started a year or so after I was diagnosed which was four years after it started, so five years into it I began having cataplexy.
My friend has narcolepsy as well and she has progressively gotten more cataplexy symptoms every year, she is to the point where she falls down if she has an extreme emotion (happy/sad/upsetting).
After being diagnosed and having the medication I felt much more awake, but if I forgot my medication or took it later than the normal time I was way more exhausted.
I didn't notice that it made my birth control not work as well.
Like the previous feedback said, it is really important to maintain a regular sleep schedule.
Please read my post-from 8/8/08. I don't have narcolepsy anymore - i had my mercury fillings removed and it is awesome to be normal again!
