Without good and stable treatment, going through sleep attacks every day can seem like a very bleak situation. Try to build your morale every day. It is important.
As far as jobs go, I advise something where you can work with your hands and feet. Moving around can help keep your mind more active and better focused than if you sat at a desk all day long.
I worked in a mail room for about four years. I'd have to say that the conditions allowed me to do a job well and still have time to deal with drowsiness. It's a better job than a fast food restaurant.
And as for managers and employers. They will be lenient and understanding of your condition if you show how serious you are about your work when you are doing ok.
Believe it or not, I actually was a delivery driver for a pizza place for ten years. There were a number of times where I had to pull over and take a nap while on delivery. That meant late (and less than hot) pizzas for customers. But my managers were OK with it. Why? Because I always showed my worth whenever I could. That, and they also appreciated that I was showing good judgment while driving.
As for computer monitors, there may very well be something to your theory. A CRT monitor always does have some amount of flicker. This can sometimes be like "white noise" for our brain and may induce a little extra drowsiness we wouldn't otherwise have. OTOH, we tend to be more passive when we're using a computer. So our bodies are more inclined towards resting anyway.
