Is your original dose (before you increased) not helping you as much as it used to? Or was the dosage increase done to simply improve see there is any extra benefit?

I ask this because I have been steady with 40mg per day for about fifteen years. I had tried increasing by 10 and 20 mg every now and then but I really noticed no extra benefit.

There simply comes a point where medication won't help nearly as much as a nap will. For me, the extra 10-20 milligrams weren't worth taking every day.

Instead, I complement my ritalin dosage with 200mg of provigil. Sometimes I notice the benefit, sometimes I don't. But overall, I'm very satisfied. Since you've been with ritalin for nine years, you may want to consider taking both and see if it helps any.

But before you did that, It would probably be a good idea to try just provigil (without ritalin) first to see how effective it is by itself.
