I am a yr old F and am going to be having my yearly review w/my doc this Weds. My situation is that I have been Diagnosed with HS and have been taking concerta for about 3 years now. I tried Provigil but when taking a dose that was somewhat effective I had severe headaches. Right now I am taking Mg ER and Mg RR in the AM 1 1/2 hours before I need to wake up and Mg ER @ 11-12 in the afternoon. Last year when I was at my review I told my DR. that I was not experiencing results with the med as I had originally and was concerned that it was going to continue to degrade my alertness and create problems in school. (Now that I have been diagnosed and not just told I need to exercise more (which I'm 5'5 110 lbs have been since 12 grade and do exercise)or that I am just depressed, I have been so happy to have a life and be able to get a 4.0 in college instead of flunking out because of sleeping and I am scared to go back to that life!) He stated that we would just have to increase the dose. Well the medication has declined more and I am now sleeping though my morning dose and having to take extra precautions to make sure I stay away... IE drinking coffee... which hurts my stomach because I used to drink so much espresso I think with no doze pills. My afternoon dose is not as effective as well and I am finding myself dose once more in class or doing homework. I am not sure increasing the dose is the right way to go because my resting HR is already 120 although my BP is good @ 107/68 and when I workout I have to be careful because my HR can get too high and climbs to 170 lifting 50 lbs w/ squats say 10 reps but in under a minute will return to 125 or so. Sorry so long but I'm really wondering what to do about this and how to explain this to my doc and wondering if others have experienced medication issues and what they found to be helpful. Thank You
