When I first tried Provigil (I hated it so I only stayed on it for 3
months), my doctor and I went through the research of its
effects on the birth control pill. If I remember correctly, Provigil
increases your liver's metabolism and therefore your body is not
as able to absorb the benefits of the pill or something along
those lines. In any case, my doctor reviewed the findings and
said that its a gamble if it will happen or not but a solid sign
that the pill is not being absorbed into the body is if I start spot
bleeding. So she recommended that I use a back-up method
and just watch and see how my body responded. I didn't get
any spot bleeding so the doctor thought I would be fine. In the
end, I didn't want to take risk of her being wrong, and Provigil
didn't really work for me anyways.
