I've been diagnosed with narc. for about 4.5 years now, and for over a year I went without the provigil because of the cost. When it got too difficult to get up in the morning I went back to the Doc, and was put on (over 6 mos. time) three different amphetamine based medications, all of which caused extreme irratability, however Ive been back on provigil for almost 9mos. now thanks to NORD helping with the cost, and I've had to have my dose upped twice and still only take 300mg a day, 400 on a bad day. Also my MSLT test was like 90 to 100% meaning I can sleep anytime and alot. I have a real problem understanding why your doc would put you on 400mg a day, that seems very excessive to me i would ask about a smaller dose.
