Do I ever remember those days! - back in 1960 in college - getting the giggles over something and my knees collapsing "mid-stride". I was diagnosed at student health where the doctor said he had treated only one narcoleptic - a bus driver. Anyway, once on a medication - dexadrine at the time - the collapsing syptoms mainly disappeared (though the sleep attacks did not). Laughing seemed to get me going more than anything else and sounds like you agree. Certain drugs lean more toward the cataplexy side but for mild cases - the more commonly used narcolepsy drugs should solve the problem. At least that's the way it has worked in my case.
