I have never heard of N causing vision problems. Also never heard of a relapse of N, once you have it, it doesn't go away and come back. Usually it doesn't get worse over time. If you have experienced something like it coming and going then you may not have N but another sleep disorder causing daytime sleepiness.

Cataplexy is usually triggered by a emotion like laughing. Laughing real hard and having some weakness in your knees can be normal. If normal laughter or other emotion triggers it then it could be cataplexy which is a loss of muscle tone and you don't have to fall to the floor, it can be subtle.

Most of the symptoms here, dropping things etc., can be due to just sleep deprivation and/or a reaction to a medication like ritalin.

If you look at the serious side effects of Ritalin on Medline you will find these among the group.

# weakness or numbness of an arm or leg
# seizures
# changes in vision or blurred vision
