Nutritious low carb food and exercise can help quite a bit but the frustration is that it won't cure it just like the medicine can only help the symptoms. My experience is that the medicine is a balancing act to get the right amount. Even then, all things the same, one day may be better than another. If the doctor is administering standard amphetamines, drug holidays should be talked about. This lets the brain get back to pre-drug normal so the drugs can remain effective. You know, any chronic disease is a suffering and unfortunately those around a loved one end up sharing the burden of the suffering. There needs to be support groups for loved one's of people with chonic illnesses like narcolepsy--a place to share your experiences with people who understand.
