I was accepted for retransplant 2 years ago. Sometimes, stage 4 liver disease proceeds in starts and stops.
The first transplant took about 8 hours to complete. My squad of docs did not give my N much weight. It took 11 days for me to finally awaken from the anasthesia. They brought in my current sleep doc, and he gave my some benzedrine. Any PWN going in for major surgery should make a dark note of this.
9 grams of xyrem has about 1600 mg. of sodium. Thats about 100 mg. more than a real strict sodium diet allows. If push comes to shove, I could probably get by on 4 grams. I guess I will find out what it is like to wind down to such a low dose.
Make sure you pay attention the eating restictions in the xyrem instructions. Xyrem does not absorbe well on a full stomach. It helps to wait 2 hours before taking it.
Tell the person you sleep with not to wake you once you take your dose. If you do wake within a couple of hours, don't make any sudden moves.
Xyrem will exaggerate C.I got a mild concussion from a fall after getting up on xyrem once. Busted head, stitches at 3am. the whole 9 yards. I won't make that mistake again. Just make sure you have some control before you start moving about.
