A lot of us who tried provigil had a night or two of insomnia at first. So that part will probably go away. The "wait and see" time with a new drug is one of the most frustrating parts of managing narcolepsy and it may be more frustrating for those we live with, than for ourselves. It's funny, when my husband starts to fear that he's going to "lose me" to this disability, he unwittingly ends up pushing me away. We have to have major discussions to sort it all out. I often can't see how my behavior affects those around me. And I seldom am able to ask for the help I need until I am so desperate that it is difficult to communicate. One book that was particularly helpful for my husband to understand narcolepsy was "Narcolepsy, A Funny Disorder That's No Laughing Matter" by Margaruete Utley. (Not sure about the spelling of her name).
