Posted by MadSleepy on November 03, 1999 at 13:37:15:I've been diagnosed with narcolepsy for almost 30 yrs. and for the last 15 yrs., I've been taking time-released desoxyn 15mg. tablets (3xday). Has been very effective with tolerable side effects. However, the cost is unbelievable, $356 per month. (There are also 2 other RXs I have to take each month related to this---lotensin for HBP that is caused by the desoxyn, and serzone that has been very effective for nighttime sleep paralysis and hallucinations). I was laid off my job in March and my health ins. coverage ended in July. I'm not eligible for state or fed. assistance because I'm not a senior citizen and I have no minor children. I live in the state of Washington. I've heard that there are some RX manufacturers who will help patients in cases like mine. [I know my unemployment is temporary if I can get medication.] The manufacturer of desoxyn appears to be Abbott Labs but I don't know where to start looking for help. I've been to their web page but could find no link even with desoxyn at all. Can anyone help me? I am a basket case without my medication.
Thanks.
