I have both EDS (especially afternoons), and the dropping off to sleep while driving. If I don't drive while I am having EDS I seem to do ok usually, but like today I drove up to our nearest town (15 min) and about half way there I had a "zap" Just a momentary dreamlike state. It feels like I have not had sleep for days, and then I get to sleep. It is AHHH type feeling. And my car went off the road some, and I came out of it. But it is so quick that I'm not sure that my eyes even closed. But I usually have EDS all afternoon, and on in to the eve. And if I am not having a bad night, I could sleep and do 10 or 11 hours. But I don't know from night to night if I am going to get a good nights sleep or not. Hope this helps.
