From what I understand, IH is basically excessive daytime sleepiness without any of the other usual sympoms of narcolepsy -- no catalepsy, no sleep paralysis, no halucinations. IH shows up on an MSLT, but I'm not sure whether or not it shows up on a sleep study. Also, naps don't help as much for people with IH.

Hope this clears things up. Like any other group, we tend to have our own "in" language, etc. This can be confusing until you figure out what all the acronyms and such mean...
