The trouble with individual patients is the uniqueness of their symptoms probably make taking lables too seriously,my 1998 copy of Sleep Disorders says IH is characterized by "recurrent daytime sleepiness but without the abrupt sleep attacks or cataplexy seen in narcolepsy."
