Keeping my Driver's License

Posted by Jill on February 02, 2000 at 12:57:05:

My dr. just decided (after 2 years) that I should not be driving. I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy approx. 9 years ago and have never had an accident - mostly because I am extremely responsible about when I do/ don't drive. My narcolepsy is extremely minor and currently under control however, when I spoke with the IL driver's license medical review board (didn't disclose my identity) I was told that I had to report it and that if my doctor felt that I should be restricted, I could loose my license. I'm planning on changing doctors ASAP but am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. The dr. doesn't want to look at me as an individual but as a diagnosis which I feel is very unfair! Do I have any recourse to fight for my license? I DON'T want to go on disability but if I loose my license I may have to. Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.
