Theresa,
I swear we are living the same life! Yet again so many similarities! I also did not have an entirely "healthy childhood" and now believe many of my life experiences as well as N symptoms are a result of that. Through counseling I am realizing that more and more. Like you also, I started counseling after a very difficult break up from a boyfriend who cheated. It left me severely depressed for an excessive amount of time, which led me to a psychiatrist who suggested there was alot more going on with me than "just depression." I still struggle with the breakup, and I believe the N contributes to that as well, mentally, and physically. The psychiatrist suggested the sleep study for me, which in turn resulted in my N diagnosis.
I firmly believe that people with N are more likely to have more tramatic experiences, as well as more difficulty dealing with them. I know speaking for myself this is deffinately true. I am never sure if my depression is a symptom of the Narcolepsy, or the Narcolepsy is a symptom of the depression! Its all so confusing. But mostly the reactions and opinions of others makes me question my sanity constantly.
I have still not posted my entire story, been going through hell with this damn N! Currently weaning off all meds to repeat study.......Had my first official ride in an ambulance yesterday. It seems to just keep getting better and better all the time! I have promised myself to sit down this week and tell my story. I deffinately need some input from all of you. So you will all hear from me soon! be prepared! This will be a long one!
