Interesting thought.........I can testify to the idea of past trauma causing sleep problems, ie: narcolepsy. I have come to accept my sleep world as my main life. I sleep more than I am awake and I have struggled with this since childhood. Now that I am an adult (26), I can live the way I want to. I get very little respect from others because of my odd sleep habits and patterns, but I have been miserable all my life trying to get by on the accepted "8-9 hours per night". I sleep about 12-14 hours a day and stay on a rotating schedule. I now have a two year old struggling with the same odd sleep problems. After I have been awake for about 12 hours I get dizzy, my eyes dry out, I have trouble talking, and I cannot think clearly at all...I'm a zombie, and the same things happen when I don't get at least 12 hours of sleep and I don't wake up ALL DAY! I feel miserable until I go to bed. My sleep rules my life. My dream world is more real to me than my real life!
