Yes, there is a connection between body temperature & alertness levels.
An extreme example would be to look at animals which hibernate, whose body temperature plummets.
My body temperature is allways low, like yourself. Especially after I eat. After a meal I go icy cold, which other people can feel if they touch my hands. Also after a meal (even a small one, like a sandwich) the room goes all blurry & I feel drunk. Food makes my Narcolepsy worse. That's why I tend to avoid meals before important events, like appointments etc..
