once more I chip in (see also below
on my post on HLA-dr2), because it's
one of the aspects of narcolepsy I'm
particularly interested in;

-if the diagnosis is clear-cut (on the story,
in combination with MSLT results): HLA testing
is NOT necessary (ie it will not give any additional info, whether it is positive or not)
-if there is doubt about the diagnosis of
narcolepsy, testing can be useful. If the test
is negative for DR2, narcolepsy can virtually
be ruled out (in the western population). However,
if the test is negative, nothing can be said.
