Posted by Linda on February 15, 2000 at 19:56:11:Wanted to let others know of a little "experiment" I've been doing with Provigil. Though my sleep doc wrote my prescription for 400 mg., I had been unable to feel OK on more than 200, having tried 400 and then 300 but getting too many side effects (mostly a weird feeling in my throat and some dizziness). I had been taking the whole amount all in the morning. But since my evening EDS continued to be significant, I decided to try adding a tiny bit of Provigil at a time in a midafternoon dose, very slowly increasing it to see if I could gradually overcome the side effects this way. And it seems to be working!!! I've been breaking the 200 mg. pill into 4-6 pieces, taking just a slightly larger piece each day, and voila--virtually none of that weird feeling I was getting before on more than 200 mg. I realize I can get Provigil in a 100 mg. size and the dosing will be easier that way, since I think I can probably tolerate an afternoon dose of 50 mg. now without any trouble. Just wanted others to know of this strategy if you've been on Provigil for awhile and have had trouble increasing your dose to a sufficient level because of side effects.
