Hi Dianne,
My mother was diagnosed after I was. Her symptoms (mainly EDS) were attributed to having 6 children. Granted, six children would tax even the most energetic, however, not to the point of needing stimulants to function at even minimal levels.
Everyone in my family who has been diagnosed exhibits varying degrees of the symptoms.
If a parent has narcolepsy, the child has a one in twenty chance of also having it. With my children, it is 100%. You have to go with what you feel, not by what others think!
In my family, we now have three generations of diagnosed narcolepy. I have a granddaughter who just turned 4. Will she develop it and make it four generations? Only time will tell.
Take Care
