I am tired all the time!!!!!! Help!! I crave sleep!!

Posted by SleepyGirl on March 26, 2000 at 17:09:03:

I am a 17 year old girl, a senior in high school. I am tired all the time,
and I can't live like this anymore. It's been like this for over a year. I
am really involved, and I do a lot of activities, including playing 3 sports
a year. This past december, I was diagnosed with depression, and began
taking a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (zoloft) to help. It has
helped my moodiness, but not my energy level. I thought it was because I
don't sleep enough at night, so I have made a committment to sleep at least
8 hours a night for the past 4 months. I haven't felt any better, and still
crave sleep throughout the day. It is beginning to affect my life and my
grades, as I can hardly function all day without sleeping. I wake up,
unrefreshed, and plan my day around when I can take a nap. I fall asleep in
class every day, and I have been suffering from severe headaches since the
beginning of February. I find myself making excuses and missing school to
sleep. I can't!
> !
> live like this anymore! My blood is normal, and the doctor has no
explanation except that I do too much. I have tried cutting back on
activities, and even have an hour to relax every night, but it hasn't
helped. My concentration and energy level has been decreasing steadily in
the past year, and has recently become even worse. I eat a balanced diet,
as I always have, in addition to the above things. If anyone has any idea
what I can do, or any explanation PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE email me. I would
appreciate it so much!! Thank you for reading my rambling message :)
