Posted by Dick on April 09, 2000 at 09:19:15:I'm 57 and was just diagnosed with narcolepsy after going to doctors since age 15 to find out what was wrong with me. I gave up on the Drs years ago but tried again recently and eventually got to a sleep dr. One reason I waited was that, while I suspected I had narcolepsy - my mother had it - I didnt want to get involved with the medications. Smoking was the only thing that ever kept me awake and I decided 20 years ago that not smoking was more important than staying awake. From all the other posting s I've been reading I know that you all know what I've gone through to manage to get throught school, the service, and a fairly successful career. But Damn! I miss so much but not being able to read or concentrate for so much of everyday! Anyway, finally, I found provigal and got to where 1 capsule at about 10am did the job for me even if I worked late. Annd boy was I productive. The problem is it seems to cause dry mouth. Has anyone else experienced this symptom?
I had no idea how bad a dry mouth is. Sores, damage to teeth, pain. I've had to back off on the provigal. Salivar is of minimal help. Any suggestions?
I just found this site, so I guess my message is a little long. Sorry.
