Provigil Overdose

Posted by Karen on April 10, 2000 at 09:45:59:

I just thought I would share this since it scared me to death.

I have been on Provigil for several months with my doctor increasing my dosage to 400 mg over the last month.

I woke up in the middle of the night a couple of weeks ago and thought I was going crazy. It was so bad that I woke up my wonderfully, supportive husband.

I was borderline confused. I felt like I couldn't quite get a grip as if I were out of touch with reality. My mind was spinning out of control. It was absolutely the scariest thing I have ever felt.

I felt like I must be having some kind of nervous breakdown.
I had never struggled with any kinds of similar problems before but it was clear that my brain was playing tricks on me.

Within the hour I began vomitting violently. It was awful. The blessing in that was that it wore me out so that my brain shutdown allowing me to go back to bed.

I was at the doctor immediately the next morning. It turns out I had the classic syptoms of an overdose.

Since they had bumped my provigl dosage rather quickly and since it is a long lasting drug, my body just got to the point where it had had all that it could take.

I just wanted to share this because it was the scariest thing I had ever had happen. Be careful with these meds. Though I was on the prescribed dosage from my doctor, it was too much for me.

The doctor told me to play close attention if I start experiencing unusual anxiety as I did have that the day before I experienced the other symptoms.

I am A-ok now. Good luck to all
