Posted by Audrey on April 28, 2000 at 14:31:51:Has anyone used the sustained release form of Ritalin? How long will it release medication? How would one use that to help one wake up better in the morning (without having difficulty with sleeping). My daughter, Tracy, who is retarded, had sleep tests, but since she had sleep apnea, the dr. at the sleep lab would not examine her for narcolepsy. The neurologists failed to even recognize that she had narcolepsy. But I think she does --she goes in trance-like periods, falls down from noises and excitement, etc. So finally her psychiatrist, who treats her (with prozac) for OCD - obsessive compulsive disorder - gave her a prescription for ritalin. 20 mg. SR (I have the generic). But I'm not sure how long it works. It seems to be working all day, into the evening.
Thanks for any help on this.
