I was just informed that I had EDS and some cataplaxy symptoms. I had two sleep paralysis events in my lifetime, at the age of 18 and again at 23. I am now 41 and my daytime sleepiness has become extreme over the last two years. I went on provigil today and it worked fairly well. I noticed a lot of eye movement when I came home to take a nap. I experienced a little bit of light-headedness and burning in the back of the neck but otherwise am fine. The doctors do not think I have narcolepsy but something is wrong with my sleep mechanism. Did any of you that are cataplexic or narcoleptic go through stages or did you symptoms immediately start as cataplexy or narcolepsy?
