Sandmans request is very straight forward and simply sets boundries on content of our entries. I appreciate this. I was especially offended by the entry sometime ago in which, as a response to the woman who thought she may have been developing schitzophrenia, someone responded that she needed to "bind satin" to get (his claws off her?). It included a long list of bible verses to read. This entry was personally objectionable in terms of my own ideology. But what is more offensive to me is the suggestion that satin could be the cause of the frightening symptoms this woman was facing. Narcolepsy is commonly misdiagnosed. I was told my symptoms were a result of family problems. (I come from a pretty healthy family actually.) Being told that my uncontrollable EDS was a form of avoidence was terrifyingly vague and intangible. The exorcist's entry in my opinion is not a positive or progressive, supportive, helpfull hint, but an evil suggestion posed to a desperate and venerable person. On the other hand, saying "you're in my prayers" (although still implicating the subject in ones personal belief system) is at least a more direct, less invasive expression of compassion and intended support. I think this illustrates the boundry Sandman is enforcing.
