I tried to get health insurance when I laid off and was told that no one will insure people with narcolepsy. The only way I could get health insurance is if anything (!!) to do with the narcolepsy was not covered. I had to wait until Medicare covered me due to my disability. Thank goodness I didn't need anything major except office visits. Of course, Medicare dosn't cover medications and that is a big expense for me.
You can't get a decent life insurance policy either. I was told that 50% of deaths of nearcoleptic people were due to accidents. The insurance agent wouldn't tell me where he got that information, but it was obvious I wasn't going to get anything from this fellow.
If you find a company that will cover us poor souls, let me know.
