Pharmacies won't take back unused medications, but there may be an alternative. In many cities, there are health clinics for people without health insurance. They will take your unused medication as long as it is still in the bottle that it was prescribed in. They then give it to those without the means to afford medication.

I live near a town of only 50,000 people and they have one of these clinics. They have been grateful to receive all my medication that didn't work out. They can't accept dexedrine or narcotics because they're controlled substances but it might be different in your area.

You can probably locate such clinic by calling the United Way office or a local homeless shelter.

The other thing may be that your doctor may know someone that could use your old medication. With the high cost of Provigil, I be thankful if my doctor would give me some free "samples."
