Teresa--

The company that makes Provigil, Cephalon, has a program where they will reduce or forego the cost of Provigil. Your doctor must apply directly to Cephalon to get the discount. They have a website at www.provigil.com. Your doctor can start by calling (800) 675-8415 to get further information.

Since most drug companies have similiar programs you might try approaching the maker of Dexedrine, too. You might be able to get a phone number from the pharmacy. At one time they had a toll-free number also.

Although I have never used this approach with Dexedrine or Provigil, I did have to use it with another medication. The company provided the medication free of charge to my physician, who then gave it to me without charge.

As far as sleeping at night while on dex, it's been so long since I took it, I can't remember. My trouble with Dex was that it raised my blood pressure too high. I took it and blod pressure medication until I was laid off from my job. Then I and my doctor decided it was best to drop the dexedrine entirely and try other things.
