Posted by Lorna on September 24, 2000 at 11:43:27:I have recently been to see my doctor in Liverpool, England with symptoms of what I am sure is Narcolepsy ; cataplexy (complete collapse when frustrated or worked-up), dreaminess and automatic behaviour during the day, powerful 'real-life' dreams. He had never heard of narcolepsy and I am afraid he suspected from his line of questioning some mental illness. He said he would try to refer me to a relevant neurologist. Since my appointment however, I have had a letter of referral to another general medical practitioner at the local hospital. I am aware there seems to be no specialists in our area. Will I just be passed from one department to another until the establishment invent another condition for me which fits into their line of practice? Has anyone any suggestions on getting a knowledgable diagnosis?
