Cindy, I am newly diagnosed and my sleep doc started me on Provigil 200mg 15 days ago, I called him yesterday and told him I haven't noticed any difference yet as far as my EDS, but have been able to sleep better at night (go figure that narcoleptics can also have battles of insomnia) he advised me to split pills in half and take one whole ...300mg started that today, keeping my fingers crossed. I had also done a lot of reading and assumed he would put me on Ritalin, I came home from my visit with him and my samples of Provigil, I had never heard of this drug so when I did a search for it online I found this forum. I am hoping this drug works for me because I don't want the side effects like other drugs, but I think most doctors are starting with Provigil and if it is not working they will resort to the old standbys.
