Do Narcoleptics loose deep sleep

I ask this question in that my doctor told me (I have daytime sleepiness) that the clincial trials on narcoleptics being done are using GHB and it is working wonders and helping them to wake up refreshed.

So this leads me to believe that narcoleptics do not get deep sleep. The drug is not available but hopefully he says should be approved by the FDA within a year.
