Bert,
I'm not sure why you're in such pain (especially after 11 days). This is very unusual. I had the somno to the tongue done about a month ago as well and vividly recall just having very mild discomfort for just two days. (And even this mild discomfort easily went away if I took the pain killers). According to everything I've read on the net (medical abstracts, discussion forums, etc) my experience seems to be the typical one. (Check out this abtract for example: www.websciences.org/cftemplate/NAPS/indiv.cfm?ID=20000817).

Since I'm not a doctor I can't really say what you're situation is, but my guess is that you may be one of the unlucky few who has had complications with the somno such as tissue infection or imflammation. Somnus' website, and the medical abtracts that can be found there, mentions this slight possibility of such complications in a small percentage of patients (www.somnoplasty.org/home.html). Did your doctor prescribe both an anti-inflammation medication as well as antibiotics to fight off any possible infections? I was prescribed these IN ADDITION TO the pain killers as a precaution. I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that your doc maybe failed to prescribe you these....

I'd go see your doc (or another doc) immediately for medical attention.
