Bert, you're at the halfway marker for pain-free living. At least that's how it was for me around day 11 after a tonsillectomy, and day 8 after a septoplasty. I think the tonsillectomy took longer because I was still healing from the septoplasty. At any rate, after the 14th day, things looked better-- read Depsy's post. She's also on her 11th day and just went out for a steak!
Have you begun to flush water through your nose? Strange stuff started coming out of my nose around day 11 after the septoplasty, but boy, once that stuff came out, I could breath like nothing before.
The septoplasty was the most scariest of surgeries I ever went through because of the "coming out of anastehsia" part -- partly drugged, feeling paralyzed but aware that I was strapped in, couldn't move, and had my eyes all packed under ice so I couldn't see. I think that event was traumatic to a large degree, so for any newcommers on their way to a septoplasty, be prepared for the possibility of waking up in not such a nice way.
How's your throat feeling by the way? Around day 16 or so, I started to get a little burning post nasal drip.
