Posted by kim on June 12, 2000 at 15:07:06:My dad had a tracheotomy for sleep apnea about 20 years ago. He was using a metal tube for a while and switched to plastic a few years ago. He recently was told by the tube manufacturer that the lifespan of the tube is 29 days. Something about the PVC (as in plastic) pipe corroding and creating something toxic (I think that's what he said). He's been using this one for a few years. He asked me to try to find some info on the Internet about this. I have no idea where to look. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone heard about this problem?
