Unfortunately this is quite normal, although depending on the doctor you might get stronger pain medications. It was 5 days of hell for me. My original doc chose only to prescribe me with codeine with tylenol. I asked him for something stronger, but he wouldn't o.k. it. (Pretty cruel. Changed docs after that). The only "trick" he recommended was to take additional over-the-counter pain medications like Aleve and to take 3 at a time instead of the usual one. Well, this actually helped a little, but only after the 5th day and on. Nothing I had available helped me the first 5 days. I hear other docs will prescribe more stronger painkillers. What did your doc prescribe? Did he upgrade your prescription to something stronger after the follow-up?
