(Don't do this if you have heart trouble, kidney trouble, or any other serious medical condition!). Regular "normal dosages" of painkillers never ever work for me, be it aspirin, tylenol, or novocaine at the dentist's office. I always end up needing like 1.5 to 2 times the normal dosage of painkillers to get the job done. Maybe it's our individual differences in metabolism, nerve pain threshold, etc. After the UPPP I first took Loritab/elixar at the recommended dosage. Didn't help much. Had to increase the dosage by 1.5 to 2 before it started to take effect....
