Just a tonsillectomy.....

Posted by OSA-Jay on June 05, 2000 at 19:40:59:

Two weeks or so after my septo/turbinoplasty, I'm going back in for a tonsillectomy. I have mild-moderate OSA, and am taking a "one-step-at-a-time" approach to surgery (tried CPAP for 3 months, wasn't working...) and the less than 50% success rate doesn't have me convinced. Plus I was getting 5-6 sore throats a year anyway...so it made sense to me to have them removed.

Has anyone had just a tonsillectomy without the UPPP and experienced an improvement in sleep quality? Did the operation change the structure or orientation of your soft palate and uvula, even though they were NOT operated on? for better of for worse...? Did your throat muscles have to "re-learn" how to swallow with it's new physiology? Please tell me anything and everything about your experience, recovery, results, and prior symptoms!
